Gift in your Will

Can I choose to leave a gift in my Will to Hospice?

Absolutely, the decision is entirely yours. If you leave a legacy gift, after ensuring the well-being of your loved ones, it would be truly amazing. Gifts in Wills play a crucial role in sustaining the future of Hospice care.

What type of gift can I leave?

There are several ways that you can leave a gift in your Will:

  • A percentage of the residue of your estate (residuary gift), after providing for loved ones and covering administrative expenses.
  • A fixed sum of money known as a pecuniary gift.
  • A specific gift is an item of value such as a piece of jewellery, shares or property.

Remember, legacies to charities are tax-free so leaving a gift to Hospice can help reduce the tax payable on your estate.

How do I change or add to an existing Will?

If you want to make a change or an addition to an existing Will, you can do this quite easily with a codicil. However, it is important to speak to a solicitor to make sure you don’t unintentionally disrupt any other provisions within your Will.
