Community Services

The Hospice Community Service offers you care in your home or at our Wellbeing Centres in Newry and Dungannon.

Services are provided by a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) including nursing, social work, physiotherapy, chaplaincy, counselling, reflexology and art therapy.

1-2-1 Support

As a patient, you might need help with pain and other symptoms. You might want someone to chat with about your feelings. Your family might need some support too. You might also need support for your beliefs. We can help you plan for your future. Our team can give you tips and local information. You can talk to a Social Worker, Nurse, or Chaplain. We’re here to support you and make sure you feel cared for. Our team can meet you at home or at our wellbeing centres in Newry or Dungannon.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a massage for your feet or hands. It helps you relax, reduces stress, and can improve your mood and sleep. You can have six sessions of reflexology at our wellbeing centre. If you cannot leave your own home, we can come to your house.

Art Therapy

Art Therapy helps you use art to express your feelings and feel better. It’s a way to show your feelings through pictures and colours instead of words. You do not have to be good at art. The art therapist helps you understand your feelings. You can have six sessions in our wellbeing centre in Newry.

Group Work

We have groups where you can meet other Patients. It’s good to meet others.  It can help you feel less alone.  We will put these dates on our Facebook page and Website.

Counselling

A counsellor is someone you can talk to about anything that is on your mind. They are good at listening. They help you work out why you feel a certain way. They can also give you ideas on how to feel better and solve problems. Not everyone needs counselling we will help to identify if you need this help.

Nursing

Hospice nurses help manage pain and other symptoms. They provide comfort and listen to your worries. They help you with planning for what is important to you at the end of your life. They support your family and help them understand. They work with other healthcare providers to give you the best care. Their goal is to make you comfortable and improve your quality of life.

Social Worker

Our social workers help you in many ways. They listen to your feelings and worries. They give you and your family information and advice. They help with future plans; They help you and your family deal with loss and sadness. They help parents understand what children need. They help children cope with serious illnesses in the family. They assist with family talks about your illness and care needs. They tell you about community resources and financial help. Their goal is to make life better for you and your family.

Chaplain

Our Chaplains will get to know you, listen to your worries, and offer comfort based on your beliefs. They provide a calm presence and support you in a way that works best for you. They can help your family too.
